Lower School Newsletter

Dear CBA Families,

This quarter is quickly coming to a close. Your children have grown and excelled in their skills and talents in so many ways. I’ve enjoyed seeing them interact with their friends on the playground or at lunch. I’ve also enjoyed seeing their creativity and effort with their projects and classroom instruction. Our Fine Arts Gala is a prime example of just some of the ways they share their talents. The beautiful art displays, wonderful songs sung in chorus, and the amazing string concert were all culminating highlights for this year.

As this quarter concludes, the students have worked hard to excel in their critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and exemplifying our lifelong guidelines and LIFESKILLS. The student’s grades are one way they have demonstrated their skills.

CBA uses the standard-based grading system to demonstrate and evaluate the student’s progress. The standards the teachers teach in the curriculum are targets and goals for learning. We call them key points. These standards or key points are at national, state, and school levels. The grading system is on a point system. Grades are based on what was taught and/or assessed. Please see the table provided for an understanding of the scale and points.

I appreciate all their hard work and perseverance this year, and I look forward to a great ending to this year.

Sincerely,
Mary Liford
Principal PreK-5
