Lower School Newsletter

Dear CBA Families,

What a wonderful second quarter we have had together. The students explored their learning, created unique projects, and presented enthusiastic information in their classrooms. The field studies and guest speakers have made a real connection to their learning.

This quarter, we focused on nine different LIFESKILLS. The LIFESKILLS were integrity, organization, patience, perseverance, pride, problem-solving, resourcefulness, responsibility, and a sense of humor. At the end of this semester, we have taught all nineteen LIFESKILLS.

Please take time over the break to discuss, remind, and model these skills with your children. Please ask them to share ways they can demonstrate these skills. The five Lifelong Guidelines and nineteen LIFESKILLS are the foundation of Clayton-Bradley Academy. They represent who we are, whether at school, in the community, or on a field study.

I know our students are ready for the holidays and a break, along with our teachers. I look forward to our third quarter when we return from winter break. The teachers have been collaborating with their mentors and coaches to reimagine education. They are creating lessons that help develop critical thinking skills with rigor, hands-on, but still enjoyable. I enjoy going into the classrooms to see the students’ creativity and curiosity about learning.

We will end the last day of this quarter with a celebration. Dec. 14, we will have a Lower School Movie Day in our comfy PJs with hot chocolate and marshmallows. The students can bring a blanket and pillow to snuggle up in as we gather in the Family Center to watch our movie. We end each quarter with a celebration for all their hard work.

Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us. I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We will see you on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024.

Sincerely,
Mary Liford
